Employees and managers looking to keep food production sanitary and safe now can take a new online course from Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences on food safety and sanitary practices for commercial enterprises.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - As more Americans enjoy meals prepared in delicatessens and supermarkets, food safety experts are seeing an increase in foodborne bacteria such as Listeria monocytogenes, in ready-to-eat foods. To help control these foodborne pathogens, Cathy Cutter, associate professor of food science in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences, has developed training materials to teach food handlers how to reduce the risk of listeria contamination.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- For eight students in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences, exhibiting livestock at the Pennsylvania Farm Show has paid off in a big way. The students were awarded scholarships by the Farm Show Scholarship Foundation during the recently concluded show in Harrisburg.
