RE: Penn State Ag Faculty Can Address Nutrition Issues

The nutritional value of foods has become an important issue in recent years. As more Americans become concerned about what they are eating, the need for well-researched information on nutrition increases.

Faculty in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences can offer their expertise on a wide variety of nutrition-related topics ranging from baby formula to hamburgers.

The following faculty would be effective sources on nutrition-related issues:

-- J. Lynne Brown, associate professor of food science. Brown is an expert on a variety of nutrition issues ranging from the fat content of wild game to nutritional issues related to vegetarian children. Her office number is 814-863-3973.

-- Edward Mills, associate professor of dairy and animal science. Mills is an expert on the nutritional value of beef, poultry, pork and a variety of specialty meats. His office number is 814-865-2394.

-- Thomas Dimick, research support assistant in food science. Dimick can discuss the nutritional value of frozen vegetables and fresh vegetables. His office number is 814-865-3360.
